This online training (OLT) course will describe the Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) principles from a business and a technical perspective and provide program examples of successful MOSA implementation, as well as sources that can assist an organization in implementing MOSA. This course is designed to provide familiarization with lifecycle best practices for MOSA. It will present MOSA definition, major system components, major system interfaces, interface standards, Government and commercial standards, and other widely supported consensus-based standards. It will present the benefits of MOSA implementation and demonstrate how and when to adopt a MOSA. It will also describe the importance of MOSA for IP, Data and Data Rights. The course will provide examples on how to use MOSA, a trade study demonstrating the risks and benefits of implementing MOSA, and demonstration of data rights that the government needs to implement MOSA. The course will also describe the potential benefits of MOSA as well as highlight applicable DoD policy for the acquisition and management of MOSA and its importance to IP, Data and Data Rights.
