International Acquisition & Exportability (IA&E) Workshop

The International Acquisition and Exportability (IA&E) workshop is a DAU-facilitated workshop designed to assist program teams in understanding IA&E fundamentals and applying best practices to assist in integrating international consideration in program planning and execution. The specific contents of a workshop will be tailored to meet the needs of the customer and it can be conducted as a learning event as part of DAU mission assistance consulting activities on specific programs.

Topics that can be addressed in a workshop include:

  • Introduction to IA&E
  • Planning and Analysis
  • Defense Exportability
  • Technology Security and Foreign Disclosure
  • International Cooperative Programs
  • Foreign Military Sales Systems Acquisition
  • International Contracting
  • Working with Industry
  • International Business Planning

Depending on customer requirements, a variety of DAU Job Support Tools, practical exercises, or case studies may be used to help build critical thinking skills relevant to integrating IA&E considerations in defense acquisition efforts.

Upon completion, participants can expect the following critical performance behaviors to result from this workshop:

  • Identify and integrate international acquisition considerations in program acquisition strategies as required by U.S. law and DoD policy
  • Leverage international participation in acquisition programs to achieve cost savings; and enhance coalition capabilities of U.S. and allied warfighters
  • Design in exportability early in the acquisition process to facilitate delivery of capabilities to foreign partners earlier while protecting U.S. technology and investment
  • Plan and execute international acquisition programs of various forms (e.g., Foreign Military Sales, Building Partner Capacity, Direct Commercial Sales, and International Cooperative Programs)

TARGET AUDIENCE

Program Executive Officer (PEO), Program Management Organization (PMO), Integrated Product Team (IPT), and International Program Organization (IPO) personnel in all functional disciplines working on programs with potential or on-going international activity.
