    Artificial Intelligence (AI) presents never-seen-before potential for both promise and peril.  Raising awareness of AI opportunities and risks is the focus of this webinar, in which the presenters will identify current use with a special focus on the business community, defense acquisition processes, and academia. They will introduce several use cases of Large Language Models created by Machine Learning algorithms. For example, they will demonstrate how to use AI as a research assistant and also present AI applications in the business world.

    Professor Tom Bagwell – Defense Acquisition University

    Dr. Bagwell currently serves as a Professor of Program Management and executive coach for the Defense Acquisition University (Government).  He is a former member of the Army’s Senior Executive Service.  Dr. Bagwell worked for 37+ years with the Army in a variety of program management and engineering positions.  His last assignment was as the Deputy Program Executive Officer for PEO Ground Combat Systems.

    Professor Kurt Godden – Walsh College

    Kurt Godden received a Ph.D. from the University of Kansas and has always worked in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He began his career as a computer science faculty member at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. He has also worked at General Motors Research, Ford Motor's AI Advancement Center, Lockheed Martin's Advanced Technology Labs, Bank of America's Managed Contact Center Applications, as well as a small Ann Arbor startup. In 2022 Kurt retired from full-time employment and has been teaching data science and machine learning at Walsh College since 2018 as an Adjunct Associate Professor. He is currently working on a book with the tentative title, "Chess Analytics: a Case Study in Data Science". In 2012 he founded a hiking club in Southern California called the PM Hikers (because God made mornings for sleeping in), which is still quite active and has over 4,300 members.

    Professor Mike Roche – Defense Acquisition University

    Mike Roche teaches courses and facilitates workshops for the Defense Department’s Acquisition Workforce, with focus areas of program management, financial management, logistics, and international cooperation. He entered federal civil service after a 20-year military career, in which he served in a variety of acquisition, program management, and support assignments throughout the Air Force and in the Defense Contract Management Agency, across the U.S. as well as the throughout the Middle East and Europe.  Mike is certified to the highest levels of defense acquisition in program management and financial management as well as international affairs.  He earned M.S. degrees in Systems Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology and Military Operational Art & Science from Air Command & Staff College as well as a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Dayton.
