    The Leading Acquisition Series:
    Developed by the DAU Leadership Learning Center, this series, typically on the first Wednesday of each month, will help you grow as an acquisition leader.  Building team success; working effectively through others; or spanning team, functional, and organizational boundaries—all will be covered.  DAU's faculty will share the latest thinking on what it means to lead, with practical defense acquisition examples and suggestions on how to apply what you learn at work.  Time in each session will be set aside to answer your questions.

    Speaker: Mr. Shannon Seay

    Professor of Acquisition and Program Management

    Mr. Shannon Seay commenced his distinguished Navy career in 1991, being commissioned as a Naval Officer from Auburn University. He completed Flight School in Pensacola, FL, earning his Naval Aviator Wings of Gold in 1993.  Mr. Seay completed multiple deployments in helicopter anti-submarine squadrons on board aircraft carriers before serving as the Operational Test Director for the HH-60H Armed Helicopter Program at Commander Test and Evaluation Squadron ONE.  After numerous operational tours he transitioned to the United States Special Operations Command and played a key role as a National Level Exercise Planner.  He was then was then appointed to the Program Executive Office for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (PEO C4I) in San Diego, CA. His positions there included Principal Installation Manager for the Ship Integration Program Office (PMW 760) and the PMW 160 Assistant Program Manager for the Combined Enterprise Regional Information Exchange System-Maritime (CENTRIX-M). Retiring from active service in 2011, Mr. Seay transitioned into a civilian role within the Department of the Navy, taking up the position of Principal Assistant Program Manager of the Shore and Expeditionary Integration Program Office (PMW 790). He was subsequently chosen as Program Manager for the Navy Business Enterprise Solutions (PMW220). In his role as PMW-220 PM, Shannon spearheaded the Navy's enterprise business solutions for acquisition, financial, contracting, and logistics operations. In 2019, Mr. Seay became part of the Defense Acquisition University Staff, as a Professor of Acquisition and Program Management.  Mr. Seay holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Design and a Master of Management and Information Systems degree from the Florida Institute of Technology.
