Defense Technical Information Center: Transforming to Better Support the Defense Research and Engineering Ecosystem

@ 12:00

  • Description:

The Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) is the DoD Field Activity responsible for managing defense-funded scientific research available to DoD, industry, academia, and the public. As the Department’s scientific and technical information knowledge provider, the organization plays a key role in facilitating unclassified and classified information sharing on research & engineering efforts relevant to our nation’s defense. DTIC also administers the DoD Information Analysis Centers that bring together subject matter experts to provide a wide array of technical analysis, conduct basic and applied research, and evaluate the state of the art.

As DTIC transforms to a knowledge provider it is incorporating the latest technologies to aid the community with submissions, relevant search results, understanding research activity across the enterprise or within a specific area of science, connection with subject matter experts, and collaboration.

This series of web events will highlight DTIC’s modernization efforts and applications and tools that support your work.

    Speaker:

Christopher Thomas, Administrator, Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC)

Mr. Christopher E. Thomas, a member of the Senior Executive Service, was appointed the Administrator of the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) in March 2012.  He is responsible for planning and directing DTIC's mission activities to coordinate science and technology information (STINFO) policy covering preservation and reuse of the results of DoD's investment in science and technology.  In his role as Administrator, Mr. Thomas oversees the DoD's largest central resource for government-funded science, technical, engineering, and business-related information available.
