Building team success; working effectively through others; or spanning team, functional, and organizational boundaries - all will be covered. DAU's faculty will share the latest thinking on what it means to lead, with practical defense acquisition examples and suggestions on how to apply what you learn at work. Time in each session will be set aside to answer your questions.SpeakersImageDr. Steve Firestone - DAU Professor of Acquisition Leadership
In addition to being Professor of Acquisition Leadership at DAU, Dr. Firestone is program director for Regent University's M.A. in Organizational Leadership. He is a U.S. Navy veteran with 23 years as a naval aviator, international engagement officer, military planner, and educator. In his last tour on active duty, he served as an online and on-campus instructor at NDU's Joint Forces Staff College. His current focus is developing leaders that can innovate and lead during challenging times.
ImageDr. Tom Bagwell - DAU Professor of Program Management and Executive Coach
Dr. Bagwell is an experienced acquisition leader with almost 40 years of experience as a project engineer, associate director, systems of systems integration director, Deputy Program Executive Officer, and former member of the Army’s Senior Executive Service (SES). His current focus is on developing the next generation of acquisition professionals and leaders through teaching, coaching, consulting, and mentoring, with a goal of positively impacting acquisition programs and outcomes.

Dr. Preisser has over 39 years’ experience working acquisition programs for the USGOV in the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC), Department of Defense (DOD) and other departments and agencies. Dr. Preisser joined the Faculty from Orion Applied Science and Technology, where she served as the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director, Aerospace Operations, Research and Futures Development. She launched several satellite programs for USGOV and international partners and has been a strong advocate satellite development through membership on corporate boards and space advocacy organizations. Her positions in both sectors have given her a dual perspective on acquisition programming, leadership and execution challenges. Ms. Preisser holds a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and a master’s degree from The Pennsylvania State University. She completed her initial doctorate while assigned overseas in program leadership roles for U.S. arms control inspections. She later completed her postdoc in STEM leadership and organizational design while collaborating with DOE and NNSA.
