How the DoD is Leading a Talent Revolution and Modernizing the Defense Learning Experience

    When it comes to a future of innovation and discovery - people are key and new tools and programs are redefining what it looks like to serve. Take a look at how the Department is launching groundbreaking talent programs in this discussion focusing on teaming leaders and innovation technology. Panelists include top talent leaders from [A&S, AFRL, DIU and DAU] discussing new efforts to modernize how the Department leverages talent--civilian, Reservist, and National Guard - to solve DOD problems. 
     

    Series Description: 

    A series looking at government, private industry, and investor perspectives on how innovation happens and how it makes a difference. This series will give you insights on what others have done and how you can apply what they have done in your environment. Hear what works, what doesn’t, and lessons learned along the way. Hear from organizations such as the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), industry vendors, tech-transfer offices, and investors in what they look for and how they make things work.

    George Vukotich Headshot

    George Vukotich, Ph.D. is a visiting faculty member at DAU focusing on innovation and approaches organizations can take to be more successful. In addition to his work at the Defense Acquisition University, he helps organizations and universities set up tech and innovation hubs. His prior experience includes helping the City of Chicago build 1871 which has become ranked as the #1 tech hub in the world and the University of Wisconsin add a Smart Cities and Innovation hub. He is a startup advisor and angel investor. His educational work includes being a faculty member, department chair, and dean of a college of business. He has spent time in Corporate America with organizations such as Accenture and IBM with a focus on creating the future and what it takes for organizations to get there. He is an author and has served in the U.S. military. 

    Colonel Michael T. McGinley

    Colonel Michael T. McGinley is the Mobilization Assistant to the Commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He assists the commander in accomplishing AFRL's mission of leading the discovery, development, and integration of warfighting technologies for our air, space, and cyberspace force. He plays a key role in directing the Air Force's $3 billion science and technology program and an additional $3 billion in externally funded research and development. Colonel McGinley leads over 100 reservists to augment a workforce of approximately 6,000 people in the laboratory's nine component technology directorates, 711th Human Performance Wing and AFWERX. 
     
    Col. McGinley has deep experience leading advanced technology development groups and Public-Private Partnerships in concert with venture capital and tech firms and with academia. He is a Level III, Joint Qualified Officer.

    Craig Robbins is the Chief Executive Officer at MilitaryHire, an HR Tech company, and Major in the Army Reserve serving as Talent Management Chief with the newly established Innovation Command, and lifelong learner always engaged in personal and professional development. He builds innovative solutions, technologies, and services in the areas of talent acquisition and talent development, e-Learning, people analytics, performance management, career transition / outplacement, and software products (SaaS).

    Katelyn Keegan, Esq., is the Acquisition Talent Development Program Manager in the Acquisition Human Capital Initiatives (HCI) Office at the Defense Acquisition University (DAU). As program manager, she directs the Defense College Acquisition Internship Program, the Public-Private Talent Experience and the Level Up Your Career webinar series. Prior to joining DAU, Katelyn was a human resources specialist with the Department of the Navy's Office of Civilian Human Resources for more than 10 years, where she developed courses, lead the Department's Presidential Management Fellows program and mandatory training program.
