Speaker: Mr. Garth McMurray
Description: Agile has become a buzz word for the Department of Defense. Many civilian and military leaders have stated the way we do software is broken which makes us unable to create relevant software. We will explore what it means to be relevant, and how organizations can get started down the modernization pathway to be relevant again. This includes gaining the speed of relevance, and also operational relevance which is not associated with speed.

Biography: Garth McMurray has worked on a variety of software systems including the Defense Support Program (space-based missile detection), imagery analysis intelligence systems, the F-22A mission planning software (AFMSS), distributed test systems, the F-16 (Fire Control computer) and the Minuteman III. He has worked with a variety of hardware architectures including IBM mainframes, Unix, Power PC, X86 and custom systems. This has required programming in multiple languages including assembler, C, C++, Jovial, Ada, Java, shell script and Visual Basic. He is currently a DAU Professor of Systems Engineering and Management.
