Speaker:  Lt Col Kevin McClure, USAF

Description:  Special operations forces (SOF) are military units that conduct special operations using unconventional techniques and modes of employment1. SOF service members are experienced, skilled, and often secretive operators who are involved in a wide variety of missions ranging from direct combat and counterterrorism to hostage rescue and humanitarian assistance.  

Special Operations Forces Acquisition, Technology & Logistics began a journey in 2019 to adopt agile principles to accelerate development, prototyping, demonstration, and fielding of SOF capabilities on existing C-130J aircraft.  This effort challenges how to perform lifecycle management of a legacy platform by applying Modular Open Architecture Approaches to increase systems integration, mission automation, and industry competition.  To do so, the team applied processes to go-fast with discipline to hardware and software acquisitions, and agile principles to optimize mission system performance, as well as increasing system-of-systems interoperability.  This journey is transitioning from demonstrating the art of the possible, to establishing a normal way of doing business.

Come join Lt Col McClure to hear about modernizing acquisition processes for agile capability delivery on legacy C-130J aircraft.  There will be a Q&A portion.

Biography:  Lieutenant Colonel Kevin McClure is presently assigned to Special Operations Forces (SOF) Acquisitions, Technology and Logistics, Program Executive Office for Fixed Wing Aircraft as the Materiel Leader, SOF Mobility Division.  In this capacity, Lt Col McClure oversees a 339 member team in the execution of a 3.7 billion dollar portfolio to develop, integrate, test, produce, field and sustain advanced SOF capabilities for AC-130J, EC-130, MC-130J and CV-22 aircraft. His portfolio of capabilities include advanced terrain following, improved aircraft survivability, and advanced command, control, computers, and communications m support of Joint All-Domain Operations.
