Microelectronics Series #2: Electronic Design Automation (EDA) and Computational Software Tools 101

@ 12:30
  • Event Recording

    Description:

This second of four-webinar series introduces the top-to-bottom development flow from semiconductor building blocks to systems. We will discuss the refinement from systems of systems to equipment, chips & software, and semiconductor building blocks. We will discuss the four major development areas and their development tools for hardware/software verification, digital and custom/analog implementation, and system integration. Attendees will learn to apply the essential tools and development flows that allow design teams to develop products as specified, within budget, and within planned schedules.

    Speakers:

    Frank Schirrmeister

Frank Schirrmeister is a senior group director, solutions & ecosystem at Cadence, where he leads a team translating customer challenges in the hyperscale, communications, consumer, automotive,  aerospace/defense, industrial and healthcare vertical domains into specific requirements and solutions.

Frank holds a Dipl.-Ing. in electrical engineering from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany. Prior to joining Cadence, Frank held senior engineering and product management positions in embedded software, semiconductor and system development, both in Europe and the United States.

    Paul McLellan

Paul McLellan has a 40-year background in semiconductor and EDA with both deep technical knowledge and extensive business experience. He worked as a consultant and journalist in EDA, embedded systems and semiconductor. Paul was educated in Britain and spent the early part of his career as a software engineer at VLSI Technology both in California and France, eventually becoming CEO of Compass Design Automation. Since then he was VP engineering at Ambit, corporate VP at Cadence, VPs of marketing at VaST Systems Technology and Virtutech, and CEO at Envis Corporation. He rejoined Cadence in 2015 and has written the Breakfast Bytes blog daily ever since.
