An overview of the Adaptive Acquisition Framework (AAF)

    Description:

    The Adaptive Acquisition Framework (AAF) is DoD’s newest policy on how DoD acquires goods and services.  

    During this webinar, you will learn about: 

    • The six acquisition pathways highlighted in the AAF
    • The pros and cons of each pathway
    • Why you would select a pathway 
    • Options on using the AAF to achieve acquisition success  

    The discussion includes lessons learned, transition planning, and policy updates.  There will be a review of multiple DAU tools to help programs navigate the AAF, including a tool to facilitate program tailoring by highlighting what is statute (must-do) and what is policy (may-do) when crafting an Acquisition Strategy.

    Anyone in the defense acquisition workforce that is interested in learning about the Adaptive Acquisition Framework.

    What we Teach Executives Series:

    This series shares with the Defense Acquisition Workforce, Industry, and Academia the knowledge and upskilling that DAU faculty provides DoD executives (General Officers, Flag Officers, Senior Executives Service Cadre) when they attend the Defense Executive Acquisition Overview Workshops (DAEOW). Each discussion is led by a senior subject matter expert (SME) faculty-member that provides DoD Executive Training.

    Lynne M. Giordano

    Professor of Acquisition Management, Defense Systems Management College

    Ms. Giordano joined the DAU faculty in December 2017 as a Professor of Acquisition Management where she teaches Executive level courses, provides mission assistance to senior leaders, and serves as DAU’s Middle Tier of Acquisition subject matter expert. 

    Ms. Giordano has over 35 years of government, military, and industry experience leading teams within the Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition and information systems communities.  She has extensive major defense acquisition program (MDAP) experience in the areas of program management, acquisition reporting, performance assessments, root cause analyses, data analysis, and earned value management (EVM).  She was also the Program Manager for DoD’s acquisition reporting tool, responsible for its design, development, and implementation.

    Ms. Giordano holds a Bachelor of Science in Math and Computer Science from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Business Administration from Regis College. She is DAWIA Advanced certified in Program Management, a Project Management Professional (PMP), and a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute (FEI) Leadership for a Democratic Society course for senior leaders.
