The topic of small business and market research will be discussed.

Event Speakers: 

Mr. Ken Carkhuff, DAU Small Business Learning Director

Mr. Carkhuff is responsible for leading the life cycle activities of assigned Small Business Professional (SBP) learning assets.  He also serves as a professor for all instructor-led SBP courses.  He was the first DoD acquisition professional to earn the new DoD Small Business Professional Credential in May 2021.

He is a retired naval officer and former SH-60B helicopter pilot with over 2500 flight hours.  He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy (BS, Physical Science), the Naval War College (MA, National Security and Strategic Studies), the Naval Postgraduate School (MS, Contract Management) and Liberty University (EdS, Educational Leadership).  He is a member of the Defense Acquisition Corps. 

Mr. Robert Marraro, Rural Procurement Specialist, Del Mar College PTAC

Robert is the Procurement Specialist who assists Del Mar College PTAC's rural clients in the 13 counties outside of the city of Corpus Christi, Texas. He is a Certified Procurement Professional, Certified Public Manager and has been in the public sector for 14 years with the Corpus Christi Independent School District; Corpus Christi Police Department; Education Service Center, Region 2 and Harris County Department of Education where he was responsible for several large procurement projects of which some were grant-funded. Robert is knowledgeable about disaster government contracting, and all aspects of educational and municipal procurement regulations from writing RFP/RFQs to helping bidders write and evaluate winning bid proposals, assisting with the contract award process and vendor management. In the past, he was a Mentor with SCORE Corpus Christi to small businesses and now serves as a Subject Matter Expert to non-profit organizations. He was also a Certified Verification Assistance Counselor with the Veteran's Administration where he assisted veteran-owned entrepreneurs obtain their small business certification.
