SCE can also be defined as a method for evaluating the processes of an organization to gain insight into its business capability. Which model processes are evaluated is determined by the sponsor during appraisal planning (e.g., software, people, acquisition). The Software Capability Maturity Model (SW-CMM) is the most common reference model used in these evaluations.
