Clearing the Browser Cache - Microsoft Edge
Overview
Clearing your Internet browser's cache (temporary Internet files, cookies and browsing history) is an important troubleshooting step in overcoming login and website navigational incidents. By completing this step, you ensure that your Internet browser is obtaining the latest content from the web server vs. potentially rendering locally stored data from a prior session.
Instructions for Microsoft Edge
- With your Microsoft Edge browser open, choose the icon resembling three horizontal dots, located in the upper right corner of the screen.
-
In the drop-down menu that appears, select Settings.
- From the menu located on the left side of the screen, choose Privacy and services.
-
Locate and select the blue button labeled Choose what to clear, and a pop-up box will appear.
- In the top part of the pop-up box, you will see a drop-down menu option underneath the words "Time range." Click on the drop-down menu, and then click on the time range for which you want to clear the cache. The options range anywhere from within the last hour to the first time you opened Microsoft Edge (or "all time" -- recommended).
- Beneath the time range drop-down menu, please ensure that at least the following items are checked:
- Browsing history
- Cookies and other site data
- Cached images and files
-
Choose the blue Clear now button at the bottom of the pop-up window.
- Close all instances of the Edge Internet browser to ensure these changes are effective.
