Tailor Your Acquisition Strategy with the AAF

The Adaptive Acquisition Framework (AAF) is a powerful addition to your acquisition toolbox. Based on six acquisition pathways, it equips DoD professionals with customized processes that deliver better solutions faster. DAU is here to help you master the AAF so you can accomplish the mission at speed and scale.

Resources and Tools

The AAF website is a hub for AAF information, resources and tools. This page provides a comprehensive overview of each acquisition pathway, insight from leadership and relevant policies and guidebooks. Go deeper and learn how to tailor, combine and transition between pathways in order to create your program strategy.

Looking for a cheat sheet? Use DAU’s AAF DoD Quick Reference Card to easily navigate the pathways. Our AAF Document Identification Tool (AAFDID) helps you identify applicable statutory and regulatory information requirements within each pathway.

Guided Learning

DAU also provides a wide range of learning resources to help you utilize the AAF. Our AAF Overview course gives you an introduction to all six pathways and reviews the pros and cons, selection criteria and discusses how to use the AAF to achieve acquisition success.

Interested in a customized workshop for you or your team? DAU provides hands-on learning through the AAF Pathway Selection Workshop. Choose from two versions:

  • The traditional model, in which students attend a two-day facilitated workshop and receive hands-on experience reviewing programs and justifying the pathways they choose.
  • A tailored workshop in which your program office or team completes the exercise using its own artifacts and requirements to select the best pathway for your current problem.
