With our recent website redesign, we took special care to think about how to better engage and support the acquisition workforce via communities of practice. The old Acquisition Community Connection was full of excellent resources, knowledgeable professionals and tools to use on the job, but lacked some important features, like intuitive navigation, filterable search, alerts, and content sharing.
So what do the new communities mean to you? They mean more opportunities for you to get engaged. You can not only take information from the site, but offer up your own knowledge. Upload documents, participate in discussions in order to help your colleagues by sharing your expertise and experiences.
Not only can you engage with faculty here at DAU, but with your peers and coworkers. Find new partners, coffee club chatters and people around you to talk shop with.
Beyond the ability to engage with other community members, we’ve made it easier to find information, both in the communities and across DAU. If you search in a community, you have the option to just search that community or search all of DAU. You can find what you’re looking for, no matter where it lives.
In conjunction with the website redesign, community owners reviewed their content to ensure the best and most current resided on the site. Thus, each newly-launched community is fresh, up-to-date, and contains current policy, tools, and other documents that you need.
The launching point for the new community sites is the DAU Community Hub. At the community hub you will find a list of all active communities on our site with a link and a brief description. You can also pin your favorite communities and view recent discussions going on across all communities.
Please visit the community hub and join a few communities on topics that interest you.
When you find a community you like, you must be signed in to the website in order to join. Select the sign in button on the top right. Once you are signed in to the website, you simply click the blue "Join this Community" button located on the right side of page on any and all communities that you are interested in becoming a member. As a member, you’ll be able to view other workforce member contributions, submit content yourself, rate content, participate in discussions, and sign up for email notifications.
The community hub is also your access to any Team sites that you may belong to. When you log in, you will be able to view and access Team sites by clicking on the My Team Sites button just below your login name. You will ONLY see those Team sites of which you’re a member.
If you currently have a DAUID, you can use that to sign in to the website and join a community. If you do not have a DAUID, you can visit https://saar.dau.mil/ to fill out a form to get access.
