According to Integrated Support Systems, Inc. (ISS), website, InSync® is advertised as a "Proven, Cost-effective Product Life Cycle Management with a Solid CM Core"
They go on to state that "InSync is the result of experience and vision. We drew on years of success in providing effective product life cycle management, change management, in-service asset management, and configuration management solutions to evolve the InSync solution to best fit customer needs. InSync is a flexible, easy-to-use system for collaborative product lifecycle management." = InSync gives you a completely functional PLM solution right from the start; but that's only the beginning.
One of the reasons you can be confident in InSync's design is that InSync's core architecture grew out of support for established military, government, and industrial standards for Configuration Management.
Originally based on MIL-STD-973 (US Military Standard for Configuration Management) InSync expanded to support MIL-STD-2549 when this newer standard replaced MIL-STD-973. We've also integrated workflow and library (file) management functions which enhance compliance with the more procedural standards like ISO-9001 and ISO-10007. InSync is compatible with most of NASA-0005 (NASA Configuration Management Standard), and portions of MIL-HDBK-61B (US DOD Configuration Management Guidance) and EIA-649 (National Consensus Standard for Configuration Management). All these standards share general requirements for identification, change control, and baselining, but use different terminology and mechanisms to get there.
Because every program has different requirements, InSync offers a number of modules providing supplemental capability. These modules enhance your ability to manage your program life cycle information in a number of useful ways, from managing your As-Built and As-Maintained Bills of Materials to utilizing a powerful STEP/AP232 Data Exchange format.
