Originally established 1981, it includes three sub-models each offering further fidelity, called Applications Composition, Early Design, and Post-Architecture. Can be used for making investment or other financial decisions involving software development, setting project budgets and schedules as a basis for planning and control, and making general software cost and schedule risk management decisions.
