Q-Star

​Q-Star is a web-based hosted site that enables proactive component obsolescence management and thus mitigates the impact of Parts-At-Risk in designs, products, and even in the supply chain. The obsolescence of a single electronic component affects multiple products, in multiple production facilities. Q-Star provides Commonality - the capability that answers the questions: Which of my BOM’s also contains this part? Who else across the enterprise is also using this same part? A secure, data-centric forum to collaborate on common component-level problems - This environment is also ITAR compatible. Real-time access to daily updated availability status, discontinuance and new product introductions, component life cycle projections, and alternate and equivalent type technologies. Timely e-mail Alert Impact Reports to all “need to know” personnel provides the time to assess the potential impact, develop a viable solution promptly, and act while lower cost options still exist.
