​Special Packaging Instructions Retrieval & Exchange (SPIRES) is the Air Force centralized electronic repository and authoritative source for Air Force managed and Contractor Supported Weapon System (CSWS) managed weapon system specific Special Packaging Instructions (SPIs). SPIRES is designed to facilitate proper packaging of weapon system serviceable and repairable spare parts for the warfighters who prepare cargo for worldwide movement. A SPI illustrates detailed special packaging requirements for cushioning, blocking, bracing, and constructing containers and to pack the asset.
