As I shared with you in yesterday’s blog post “Four Upcoming Opportunities to be Aware Of”, the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Logistics & Materiel Readiness) will be hosting first Office of the Secretary of Defense Product Support Manager (PSM) Conference. According to the 3 Oct 11 ASD(L&MR) announcement memo, “the PSM Conference will begin at 1300 on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, immediately following the PEO/SYSCOM Commander's Conference and will conclude at 1700 on Thursday, November 3, 2011. The conference is a “no-cost” event intended for PSMs and Program Managers and will be held in the Howell Auditorium, Scott Hall at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
The ASD(L&MR) goes on to state “during this period of change, this conference is timely and will assist the PSM in delivering an affordable sustainment solution that meets the Warfighter’s needs. It will address the evolving challenges of the PSM in the current environment, including how to satisfy the goals outlined in the Better Buying Power Initiative. The conference will provide a baseline in policy, guidance, tools, roles, responsibilities, and expectations for the PSM. Additionally, the conference will provide PSMs an opportunity to network, as well as share knowledge and lessons learned with their peers. I strongly encourage your support for this conference with maximum attendance.”
Product Support Managers and Program Managers interested in attending are encouraged to register for this government-only PSM Conference at http://www.acq.osd.mil/log/mr/PSM_conference.html as soon as possible, but no later than November 1, 2011. The conference agenda, directions, briefing charts, and other administrative information are located on the same website. Business attire and the uniform of the day are appropriate for the conference.
