Wanted to call your attention to a DLA announcement yesterday entitled “Distribution San Diego Hosts Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to Celebrate New Public Private Partnership between DLA and Thales Defense and Security Incorporated”. According to article, the DLA Distribution commander “officiated a ribbon cutting ceremony to signify the beginning of the first Defense Logistics Agency public private partnership between DLA and Thales Defense and Security Incorporated at Naval Base Coronado, San Diego, California, June 6”.

Under this arrangement, the Thales-DLA team will be directly supporting Navy’s Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW) under a Navy-Thales Commercial Services Agreement (CSA).

According to the DLA Distribution Commanding Officer, what makes this arrangement so innovative is it is the first public-private partnership executed by DLA Distribution with industry for warehousing services. Additionally, it also is a tangible implementation of broadly-based product support partnerships articulated in both the DoD Instruction 4151.21 Public Private Partnerships for Product Support and the supporting DoD Public-Private Partnering (PPP) for Product Support Guidebook.
